SUMMARY:Admiralty Island Greens Creek Mine Comment Period Opens
DESCRIPTION:The Admiralty Island National Monument is seeking comments on the proposed Hecla Greens Creek Mining Company (HGCMC) Surface Exploration 2024-2028 project\, which proposes to extend HGCMC’s surface exploration authorization by five years\, and incorporate new areas of interest\, near their Greens Creek Mine. \nTo review the proposed action\, see the “Proposal” folder on the project webpage. This includes a table describing changes from the existing authorization. To view prior analysis for the existing authorization\, see the “Scoping” folder on the project webpage. \nA legal notice was published in the Juneau Empire on September 27\, 2023. Comments will be accepted within 30 days of the publication date. The legal notice is also attached to this message and on the project webpage “Scoping” folder and contains additional important information regarding the comment process. \nPlease submit your comments for the Responsible Officials through the project’s comment database at https://cara.fs2c.usda.gov/Public//CommentInput?Project=64682. Comments will help the project interdisciplinary team identify concerns\, questions\, and information needs related to the Proposed Action. When writing comments\, explain why you have a concern or a suggestion.
